Well, Gaffney is very small town and didn’t have neither Uber not Lyft availability... Gladly, the hotel attendant provided local cab company which costed me probably 3d of what the other two would charge... So I used it to go for dinner into town and back last night...
Took off about 8:30 in the morning... and rode pretty much non stop to get to 3:15PM train..
Washed everything right away... Ready to go... again...
Dinner at home...
Stats, rode 535.6 miles over entire trip and burntover 25000 calories...
Tough day I must admit... Hot and long... even though I was feeling OK still peed all thick yellow at the end despite drinking more than 3 gallons of water along the way...
I took this picture to show how easy it to ride theCherokee Foothill SC11 after 30 miles when the dedicated lane ended and there was no shoulder at all...
It gotten to high 95F today - it was hot..
What a day though, don’t regret a minute of it...
There is no UBER or LYFT in the area but local cab company
I updated Day 3 with pictures. There will be no post for Day 4, I’ll just post pictures here, followed by quick video...
Filled up the bottles for the ride and off I went...
I chosen the southern return route... This would only take me through one big mountain ridge... Itwas easier the the ones on the way in... Ankle was fine, my butt, - not so... Had to briefly stop very often because of it...
I was planning another Century ride today (over 90 miles), but decided to stop at 90 miles in town. Otherwise I had to ride 125 miles till next civilization, and considering body recovery, I chose to get into motel...
And, of cause, me being lucky, they don’t sell alcohol on Sunday in town I’m at, Wahalla, SC... All of the nice restaurants were closed earlier today, and because of lack of vehicles for UBER and Lyft, I had to walk to the closest Mexican restaurant...
Since the don’t sell beer, had to drink mineral water served in beer mug, hoping for Placibo effect...
Pictures from 2019 RDV
The dude fell of the bunk bed in the middle of the night and kept sleeping on the floor...
Took a power nap in the shade. Yes, I started drinking beer at 10AM...
There was a quick thunderstorm coming throughthe area... I had enough time to pack and shelterin the gazebo. Had coffee and performed chain maintenance...
I think it was the toughest day climbing. I had conquer Mount Everest.. In some areas the shoulder was so narrow I had to walk my bike up while checking the approaching cars from behind...
I ran out of water half way through the climbs and first gas station was all of way on other side... It was tough to be honest... Considering my rightankle Achilis Tender had pain from the night before.
Once I was on the bottom the ride was just beautiful...
And I got to Town of Murphy, NC, some 10 milesfrom my destination, the route is actually brutal with sharp hills...
Finally at the campground all checked in and ready to party...
